About 40km from the southern part of Cebu is where the famous Heritage City of Cebu is located, the City of Carcar. From American and Spanish-era inspired structure and houses to a bustling community, good food and welcoming citizen Carcar has been one of the many go to places for tourist both foreign and locally alike. Going to this City can be accessible by a Bus in South Bus Terminal or Jeepney with fares ranging from 50.00-60.00php. Here are some of the best thing that the City of Carcar can offer you.
1. Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria
Located at the left side of the Heritage Museum is a Graeco-Romans style inspired and Muslin influenced Church which was first constructed by Fr. Antonio Manglano then continued by Fr. Gabriel Gonzales and finished by Fr. Manuel Fernandez Rubio on 1975. Along with its multi-cultural inspired facade, the 12 apostles can also been seen outside of the church. On all of the 12 apostles only 1 is carved black, the Judas Iscariot which is situated in the front of the church.

2. The Heritage Museum
The building was built on 1929 to 1937 which was first used as a dispensary and converted into a museum on 2007 exhibiting its rich culture, antique furniture, memorabilia’s and artifacts that had greatly contributed to the history of the City of Carcar.
3. Nationally recognized Food
When it comes to travelling it’s a must to try the local delicacies or any food that the City or Place can offer and the City of Carcar is no exception. Not only that among others City of Carcar are famous of their mouthwatering, soupy and crunchy lechon (a whole pig cooked over a charcoal) which can be bought in the public market for only 400.00php. Once you approach the lechon stalls, the vendors will offer you a free taste and it will be up to you on which you’ll buy from. Aside from that they also offer chicharon which is also has a similar status of the lechon previously mentioned. Your Carcar City, Cebu trip is not complete without buying their “Chicharon” as a pasalubong. It is a delicacy that is made from a pig’s skin with a little bit of meat. It is popular as pulutan or finger food to be eaten while drinking a beer. Some people also use it as a topping for some of their dishes. You can buy the chicharon as a gift for other people or for yourself, but I know that once you stated it you don’t wanna share.
